When we re-located back to Phoenix I felt a little lost, actually I felt a lot bit lost. I was excited to focus 100% of my self on my business, but didn’t really know what that would look like. I was excited, scared, nervous, and really crazy happy. The community in this city is so supportive, and the weather is perfect for photographers. I couldn’t wait to get out there and do all the things that I dreamed about from behind my cubicle. After we moved and got settled in I heard about The Rising Tide Society and loved their mission, community over competition. Love your fellow creatives, see them as friends, co-workers, colleagues, and not as your competition. I had nothing to lose and attended my first local meet-up (called Tuesdays Together) in May of last year. I was hooked! We were a tiny little group of 2 at the first meet-up and slowly grew, I was bummed to miss July, but surprised to see that we had grown by the time I returned from a trip back east. Our awesome leader announced that she was relocating to Los Angeles, and I knew that I wanted to step-up and lead our group! Long story short (okay long story long :)) I became the leader for our Phoenix Tuesdays Together group in the Fall and haven’t looked back! We have grown to two groups in the valley (West and East) and meet monthly. We have also grown to a membership of almost 400 creatives, with meeting attendance around 30 in each location! I hope we only continue to grow and reach more and more creative business owners! If you own a creative small business in the Phoenix area and believe that a rising tide lifts all boats, we’d love to have you! If you have any questions about what it looks like to attend a meeting or just want to come see for yourself, please reach out! I’d love to hear from you!
The following photos are from our April mini styled shoot with the topic of the month being collaboration! I asked some of our sweet and talented local members for help with a lavender and blue Spring on the farm theme! Alyssa at Tenn Letters created the beautiful calligraphy and paper goods! I love the flower quote so very much! The fabulous Katie at Sift Bakehouse made macaroons and a lavender coffee cake. We ate every last bit of that cake after everyone had a chance to photograph it, it was delicious! Foxy, the miniature donkey wanted some macaroons too, she almost made off with a few (see photographic evidence below)! It was Brittney’s very first meeting and not only did she offer to host us, but to host a styled shoot at her home! If that is not the epitome of a kind and loving heart, I don’t know what is! Her little donkey Foxy and free-range chickens gave us all a big welcome, and I just want to live down on the farm now! When I shared my vision with fellow RTS leaders, Joni at Mint & Mirth asked to create a custom cocktail for our event, I’ll post the delicious recipe below, it includes beautiful and fragrant lavender! The flowers and design were all thanks to Goodwill and Mayesh flower shop! My right-hand woman Suzy Goodrick took all the pieces I’d found and styled them in a beautiful way, I don’t know what I would do without Suzy, she truly lives community over competition! I had a total blast putting this together and it was a great little break from our often desert scenery here in Phoenix! Without further adieu here are some of my favorite behind the scenes and photos from our #TuesdaysTogetherPHX with Spring on the Farm!
